Another restaurant means another blog post! This week I had the opportunity to check out the Restaurant, Bites, located in Statesboro. Bites actually used to be located off of Brampton Avenue, however expanded to a new and bigger location just down the road. Their original location was a lot smaller than the new one, and the expansion was much needed! You can read more about the history of this restaurant from a local news article https://thegeorgeanne.com/715/features/becoming-bites-how-the-popular-statesboro-restaurant-came-to-be/. This was my first time trying this restaurant, and my expectations were pretty high given how others talked very highly of the food and atmosphere. Sure enough, my expectations were met because I enjoyed just about everything this restaurant had to offer. If you're looking for a healthier food option, this is not the place for that. Bites is your classic American/burger restaurant that has a large menu with options for just about anyone. Some classic staples being chicken tenders, burgers, quesadillas, tacos, and so much more.
My friends and I got to the restaurant around 7:30pm on a Wednesday night after a baseball game, and while it was not very packed, the environment was still very lively. There is a ton of seating here and can accommodate anywhere from small to large groups. The full service bar was extremely impressive to me personally. From what I have noticed with a lot of restaurants around the Southeast, Georgia area, the bar areas are typically small and very cramped. For those who enjoy sitting at the bar, enjoying some delicious drinks, and having a good meal, Bites bar is the place to sit at! Now the atmosphere of this restaurant was great, but let's talk about the service here. Our server was absolutely amazing from the time we sat down, all the way until we were leaving out the door. She was very attentive and so kind to all five of us. Any questions we needed answered about the menu or bar, she was ready to answer and help to the best of her ability. If you have read my other blog posts, you know that service is something that I value when dining out. Needless to say, if you are looking for a casual lunch or dinner out, I highly recommend checking out Bites!

Now it's time to get into my thoughts about the food and drinks Bites has to offer. Like I said earlier in the post, this is the place to go to feed your cravings for greasy things like chicken tenders and burgers! On this particular night, eating healthy was not on the minds of any of us at the table. To start out, we decided to go full force and try out the loaded fries. The bacon cheese fries consisted of queso cheese (lots of it) and bacon of course. While I did think these were good, I have to say the fries itself here at Bites are a little on the salty side. Don't get me wrong, I love some salt on fries, but for my personally these had a little too much on them. This could have just been an off batch with too much salt, but overall they were pretty decent. Sticking with my rating system, I would give these fries a solid six out of ten. Next time for an appetizer, I would definitely try their fried pickles because that is one of my favorite classics. For my entree, I decided to go with the chicken club served on Texas toast. This sandwich was so good y'all! I was impressed by how you are able to choose which bread and cheese you would like for their burgers and sandwich's. Served on this sandwich along with the bacon was lettuce, tomato, and their "bites" sauce. Bites sauce, if you are not familiar with it, is very similar to Zaxby's or Cane's sauce. As a side you get fries, which we already discussed a little bit ago. I asked for ranch on the side, given that it is my all time favorite dipping sauce, and it tasted just how restaurant ranch should taste. On my rating scale, I would give this sandwich a nine out of ten! Aside from what I had, one of my friends had the burger and I was able to taste that as well. This was a very solid burger and I would, from the one bite I had, would give it an eight out of ten. I cannot wait to go back and try more food items off their extensive menu!
Let's dive into the drinks at Bites. This restaurant offers a set menu of their own drink creations, but you can also request your favorite drinks from the bar. My first drink was a classic mojito. This mojito was pretty good but I will say the glasses they put their drinks in was not my favorite. It may seem less significant to others, however I think certain drinks should be served in specific glasses. Again, this is not a huge deal but just something I noticed personally. Another drink we tried was from their set menu, the "Bites punch." This drink was good for if you like a very sweet alcoholic drink. In the drink was vodka, pineapple juice, lime juice, grenadine, and a splash of cranberry. I would give the bar aspect of this Southeast, Georgia restaurant a strong nine out of ten. The reason for this rating is because of the options and the actual seating area if you want to just eat and drink there.
If you are ever in the area, I highly recommend checking Bites out and also letting me know what you personally think of the restaurant. Bring your kids, family, friends, whoever you'd like and give this restaurant a try! Bites is located off of Veterans Memorial Parkway, right near the Waffle House. Also if you're looking for some other good restaurants in the area to check out, refer to https://www.visitstatesboro.org/places-to-eat. Stay tuned for which restaurant I decide to try out next. Side note: if you have a personal recommendation for me to try, send me an email, I'd be happy check them out!
